ClearCorrect is a modern orthodontic treatment that straightens teeth with a series of customized clear aligners that are comfortable and virtually invisible when worn, which makes them a great alternative to traditional braces for many patients. However, ClearCorrect still requires no small amount of discipline on the patient’s part to be successful, and traveling can make it difficult to keep up with your treatment instructions. Here’s a quick guide to keeping your ClearCorrect treatment on track while you’re on the road.
Assemble a ClearCorrect Travel Kit
It’s a great idea to pack all your orthodontic and oral hygiene supplies in one container so you have everything you need in one place when you’re traveling. Start with a sturdy container that can be easily cleaned such as a backpack or a satchel and fill it with items like:
- A soft-bristled toothbrush
- Dental floss
- Travel-sized mouthwash
- Your carrying case for your aligners
- Products you use to clean your aligners
- Any tools you use to place or remove your aligners
- Any attachments necessary for treatment such as elastics
- Over-the-counter pain medication in case you experience any discomfort
Keep Your Wear Time in Mind
One of the most crucial instructions your dentist will give you is to wear your ClearCorrect aligners for at least twenty hours each day. This gives the appliances enough time to shift your teeth into healthier positions while preventing them from drifting back toward their former alignment. You’ll need to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything but water and thoroughly brush and floss before wearing them again. Since it’s ideal to wait at least thirty minutes between eating or drinking and brushing, it may be a great idea to strategically plan your pit stops and meal breaks so you can make sure you wear your aligners enough each day.
Don’t let your trip throw your realignment process off track. Consulting with your dentist can help you understand how to keep up with your orthodontic process when traveling.
